XLVI
WHEN THE CHILD IS NAMED

The mother and godmother on the housetop before dawn:
    the godmother speaks:

        My Sun!
        My Morning Star!
Help this child to become a man.
        I name him
        Rain-dew Falling!
        I name him
        Star Mountain!

The mother throws a live coal: the godmother throws sacred meal.
