Genesis 48

KJV

1  And it came to pass1961 after310 these428 things,1697 that one told559 Joseph,3130 Behold,2009 thy father1 is sick:2470 and he took3947 with5973 him 853 his two8147 sons,1121 853 Manasseh4519 and Ephraim.669

2  And one told5046 Jacob,3290 and said,559 Behold,2009 thy son1121 Joseph3130 cometh935 unto413 thee: and Israel3478 strengthened himself,2388 and sat3427 upon5921 the bed.4296

3  And Jacob3290 said559 unto413 Joseph,3130 God410 Almighty7706 appeared7200 unto413 me at Luz3870 in the land776 of Canaan,3667 and blessed1288 me,

4  And said559 unto413 me, Behold,2009 I will make thee fruitful,6509 and multiply7235 thee, and I will make5414 of thee a multitude6951 of people;5971 and will give5414 853 this2063 land776 to thy seed2233 after310 thee for an everlasting5769 possession.272

5  And now6258 thy two8147 sons,1121 Ephraim669 and Manasseh,4519 which were born3205 unto thee in the land776 of Egypt4714 before5704 I came935 unto413 thee into Egypt,4714 are mine; as Reuben7205 and Simeon,8095 they shall be1961 mine.

6  And thy issue,4138 which834 thou begettest3205 after310 them, shall be1961 thine, and shall be called7121 after5921 the name8034 of their brethren251 in their inheritance.5159

7  And as for me,589 when I came935 from Padan,4480 6307 Rachel7354 died4191 by5921 me in the land776 of Canaan3667 in the way,1870 when yet5750 there was but a little3530 way776 to come935 unto Ephrath:672 and I buried6912 her there8033 in the way1870 of Ephrath;672 the same1931 is Bethlehem.1035

8  And Israel3478 beheld7200 Joseph's3130 853 sons,1121 and said,559 Who4310 are these?428

9  And Joseph3130 said559 unto413 his father,1 They1992 are my sons,1121 whom834 God430 hath given5414 me in this2088 place. And he said,559 Bring3947 them, I pray thee,4994 unto413 me, and I will bless1288 them.

10  Now the eyes5869 of Israel3478 were dim3513 for age,4480 2207 so that he could3201 not3808 see.7200 And he brought them near5066 853 unto413 him; and he kissed5401 them, and embraced2263 them.

11  And Israel3478 said559 unto413 Joseph,3130 I had not3808 thought6419 to see7200 thy face:6440 and, lo,2009 God430 hath showed7200 me also1571 853 thy seed.2233

12  And Joseph3130 brought them out3318 853 from between4480 5973 his knees,1290 and he bowed himself7812 with his face639 to the earth.776

13  And Joseph3130 took3947 853 them both,8147 853 Ephraim669 in his right hand3225 toward Israel's3478 left hand,4480 8040 and Manasseh4519 in his left hand8040 toward Israel's3478 right hand,4480 3225 and brought them near5066 unto413 him.

14  And Israel3478 stretched out7971 853 his right hand,3225 and laid7896 it upon5921 Ephraim's669 head,7218 who1931 was the younger,6810 and his left hand8040 upon5921 Manasseh's4519 head,7218 guiding his hands wittingly;7919 853 3027 for3588 Manasseh4519 was the firstborn.1060

15  And he blessed1288 853 Joseph,3130 and said,559 God,430 before6440 whom834 my fathers1 Abraham85 and Isaac3327 did walk,1980 the God430 which fed7462 me all my life long4480 5750 unto5704 this2088 day,3117

16  The Angel4397 which redeemed1350 me from all4480 3605 evil,7451 bless1288 853 the lads;5288 and let my name8034 be named7121 on them, and the name8034 of my fathers1 Abraham85 and Isaac;3327 and let them grow1711 into a multitude7230 in the midst7130 of the earth.776

17  And when Joseph3130 saw7200 that3588 his father1 laid7896 his right3225 hand3027 upon5921 the head7218 of Ephraim,669 it displeased7489 5869 him: and he held up8551 his father's1 hand,3027 to remove5493 it from4480 5921 Ephraim's669 head7218 unto5921 Manasseh's4519 head.7218

18  And Joseph3130 said559 unto413 his father,1 Not3808 so,3651 my father:1 for3588 this2088 is the firstborn;1060 put7760 thy right hand3225 upon5921 his head.7218

19  And his father1 refused,3985 and said,559 I know3045 it, my son,1121 I know3045 it: he1931 also1571 shall become1961 a people,5971 and he1931 also1571 shall be great:1431 but truly199 his younger6996 brother251 shall be greater1431 than4480 he, and his seed2233 shall become1961 a multitude4393 of nations.1471

20  And he blessed1288 them that1931 day,3117 saying,559 In thee shall Israel3478 bless,1288 saying,559 God430 make7760 thee as Ephraim669 and as Manasseh:4519 and he set7760 853 Ephraim669 before6440 Manasseh.4519

21  And Israel3478 said559 unto413 Joseph,3130 Behold,2009 I595 die:4191 but God430 shall be1961 with5973 you, and bring you again7725 853 unto413 the land776 of your fathers.1

22  Moreover I589 have given5414 to thee one259 portion7926 above5921 thy brethren,251 which834 I took3947 out of the hand4480 3027 of the Amorite567 with my sword2719 and with my bow.7198
