Proverbs 16

KJV

11  A just4941 weight6425 and balance3976 are the LORD's:3068 all3605 the weights68 of the bag3599 are his work.4639

12  It is an abomination8441 to kings4428 to commit6213 wickedness:7562 for3588 the throne3678 is established3559 by righteousness.6666

13  Righteous6664 lips8193 are the delight7522 of kings;4428 and they love157 him that speaketh1696 right.3477

14  The wrath2534 of a king4428 is as messengers4397 of death:4194 but a wise2450 man376 will pacify3722 it.

15  In the light216 of the king's4428 countenance6440 is life;2416 and his favor7522 is as a cloud5645 of the latter rain.4456

16  How much4100 better2896 is it to get7069 wisdom2451 than gold!4480 2742 and to get7069 understanding998 rather to be chosen977 than silver!4480 3701

17  The highway4546 of the upright3477 is to depart5493 from evil:4480 7451 he that keepeth5341 his way1870 preserveth8104 his soul.5315

18  Pride1347 goeth before6440 destruction,7667 and a haughty1363 spirit7307 before6440 a fall.3783

19  Better2896 it is to be of a humble8217 spirit7307 with854 the lowly,6035 than to divide4480 2505 the spoil7998 with854 the proud.1343

20  He that handleth a matter wisely7919 5921 1697 shall find4672 good:2896 and whoso trusteth982 in the LORD,3068 happy835 is he.

21  The wise2450 in heart3820 shall be called7121 prudent:995 and the sweetness4986 of the lips8193 increaseth3254 learning.3948

22  Understanding7922 is a wellspring4726 of life2416 unto him that hath1167 it: but the instruction4148 of fools191 is folly.200

23  The heart3820 of the wise2450 teacheth7919 his mouth,6310 and addeth3254 learning3948 to5921 his lips.8193

24  Pleasant5278 words561 are as a honeycomb,6688 1706 sweet4966 to the soul,5315 and health4832 to the bones.6106

25  There is3426 a way1870 that seemeth6440 right3477 unto a man,376 but the end319 thereof are the ways1870 of death.4194

26  He5315 that laboreth6001 laboreth5998 for himself; for3588 his mouth6310 craveth404 it of5921 him.

27  An ungodly1100 man376 diggeth up3738 evil:7451 and in5921 his lips8193 there is as a burning6867 fire.784

28  A froward8419 man376 soweth7971 strife:4066 and a whisperer5372 separateth6504 chief friends.441

29  A violent2555 man376 enticeth6601 his neighbor,7453 and leadeth1980 him into the way1870 that is not3808 good.2896

30  He shutteth6095 his eyes5869 to devise2803 froward things:8419 moving7169 his lips8193 he bringeth evil to pass.3615 7451

31  The hoary7872 head is a crown5850 of glory,8597 if it be found4672 in the way1870 of righteousness.6666

32  He that is slow750 to anger639 is better2896 than the mighty;4480 1368 and he that ruleth4910 his spirit7307 than he that taketh4480 3920 a city.5892

33  853 The lot1486 is cast2904 into the lap;2436 but the whole3605 disposing4941 thereof is of the LORD.4480 3068

1  The preparations4633 of the heart3820 in man,120 and the answer4617 of the tongue,3956 is from the LORD.4480 3068

2  All3605 the ways1870 of a man376 are clean2134 in his own eyes;5869 but the LORD3068 weigheth8505 the spirits.7307

3  Commit1556 thy works4639 unto413 the LORD,3068 and thy thoughts4284 shall be established.3559

4  The LORD3068 hath made6466 all3605 things for himself:4617 yea, even1571 the wicked7563 for the day3117 of evil.7451

5  Every one3605 that is proud1362 in heart3820 is an abomination8441 to the LORD:3068 though hand3027 join in hand,3027 he shall not3808 be unpunished.5352

6  By mercy2617 and truth571 iniquity5771 is purged:3722 and by the fear3374 of the LORD3068 men depart5493 from evil.4480 7451

7  When a man's376 ways1870 please7521 the LORD,3068 he maketh even1571 his enemies341 to be at peace7999 with854 him.

8  Better2896 is a little4592 with righteousness6666 than great4480 7230 revenues8393 without3808 right.4941

9  A man's120 heart3820 deviseth2803 his way:1870 but the LORD3068 directeth3559 his steps.6806

10  A divine sentence7081 is in5921 the lips8193 of the king:4428 his mouth6310 transgresseth4603 not3808 in judgment.4941

Vul

1 [Hominis est animam præparare,
et Domini gubernare linguam.

2 Omnes viæ hominis patent oculis ejus;
spirituum ponderator est Dominus.

3 Revela Domino opera tua,
et dirigentur cogitationes tuæ.

4 Universa propter semetipsum operatus est Dominus;
impium quoque ad diem malum.

5 Abominatio Domini est omnis arrogans;
etiamsi manus ad manum fuerit, non est innocens.
Initium viæ bonæ facere justitiam;
accepta est autem apud Deum magis quam immolare hostias.

6 Misericordia et veritate redimitur iniquitas,
et in timore Domini declinatur a malo.

7 Cum placuerint Domino viæ hominis,
inimicos quoque ejus convertet ad pacem.

8 Melius est parum cum justitia
quam multi fructus cum iniquitate.

9 Cor hominis disponit viam suam,
sed Domini est dirigere gressus ejus.]

10 [Divinatio in labiis regis;
in judicio non errabit os ejus.

11 Pondus et statera judicia Domini sunt,
et opera ejus omnes lapides sacculi.

12 Abominabiles regi qui agunt impie,
quoniam justitia firmatur solium.

13 Voluntas regum labia justa;
qui recta loquitur diligetur.

14 Indignatio regis nuntii mortis,
et vir sapiens placabit eam.

15 In hilaritate vultus regis vita,
et clementia ejus quasi imber serotinus.]

16 [Posside sapientiam, quia auro melior est,
et acquire prudentiam, quia pretiosior est argento.

17 Semita justorum declinat mala;
custos animæ suæ servat viam suam.

18 Contritionem præcedit superbia,
et ante ruinam exaltatur spiritus.

19 Melius est humiliari cum mitibus
quam dividere spolia cum superbis.

20 Eruditus in verbo reperiet bona,
et qui sperat in Domino beatus est.

21 Qui sapiens est corde appellabitur prudens,
et qui dulcis eloquio majora percipiet.

22 Fons vitæ eruditio possidentis;
doctrina stultorum fatuitas.]

23 [Cor sapientis erudiet os ejus,
et labiis ejus addet gratiam.

24 Favus mellis composita verba;
dulcedo animæ sanitas ossium.

25 Est via quæ videtur homini recta,
et novissima ejus ducunt ad mortem.

26 Anima laborantis laborat sibi,
quia compulit eum os suum.

27 Vir impius fodit malum,
et in labiis ejus ignis ardescit.

28 Homo perversus suscitat lites,
et verbosus separat principes.

29 Vir iniquus lactat amicum suum,
et ducit eum per viam non bonam.

30 Qui attonitis oculis cogitat prava,
mordens labia sua perficit malum.

31 Corona dignitatis senectus,
quæ in viis justitiæ reperietur.

32 Melior est patiens viro forti,
et qui dominatur animo suo expugnatore urbium.

33 Sortes mittuntur in sinum,
sed a Domino temperantur.]
