Job 40

KJV

1  Moreover the LORD3068 answered6030 853 Job,347 and said,559

2  Shall he that contendeth7378 with5973 the Almighty7706 instruct3250 him? he that reproveth3198 God,433 let him answer6030 it.

3  Then Job347 answered6030 853 the LORD,3068 and said,559

4  Behold,2005 I am vile;7043 what4100 shall I answer7725 thee? I will lay7760 mine hand3027 upon3926 my mouth.6310

5  Once259 have I spoken;1696 but I will not3808 answer:6030 yea, twice;8147 but I will proceed no further.3254 3808

6  Then answered6030 the LORD3068 unto 853 Job347 out of4480 the whirlwind,5591 and said,559

7  Gird up247 thy loins2504 now4994 like a man:1397 I will demand7592 of thee, and declare3045 thou unto me.

8  Wilt thou also637 disannul6565 my judgment?4941 wilt thou condemn7561 me, that4616 thou mayest be righteous?6663

9  Hast thou an arm2220 like God?410 or canst thou thunder7481 with a voice6963 like him?3644

10  Deck5710 thyself now4994 with majesty1347 and excellency;1363 and array3847 thyself with glory1935 and beauty.1926

11  Cast abroad6327 the rage5678 of thy wrath:639 and behold7200 every one3605 that is proud,1343 and abase8213 him.

12  Look on7200 every one3605 that is proud,1343 and bring him low;3665 and tread down1915 the wicked7563 in their place.8478

13  Hide2934 them in the dust6083 together;3162 and bind2280 their faces6440 in secret.2934

14  Then will I589 also1571 confess3034 unto thee that3588 thine own right hand3225 can save3467 thee.

15  Behold2009 now4994 behemoth,930 which834 I made6213 with5973 thee; he eateth398 grass2682 as an ox.1241

16  Lo2009 now,4994 his strength3581 is in his loins,4975 and his force202 is in the navel8306 of his belly.990

17  He moveth2654 his tail2180 like3644 a cedar:730 the sinews1517 of his stones6344 are wrapped together.8276

18  His bones6106 are as strong pieces650 of brass;5154 his bones1634 are like bars4300 of iron.1270

19  He1931 is the chief7225 of the ways1870 of God:410 he that made6213 him can make his sword2719 to approach5066 unto him.

20  Surely3588 the mountains2022 bring him forth5375 food,944 where8033 all3605 the beasts2416 of the field7704 play.7832

21  He lieth7901 under8478 the shady trees,6628 in the covert5643 of the reed,7070 and fens.1207

22  The shady trees6628 cover5526 him with their shadow;6752 the willows6155 of the brook5158 compass him about.5437

23  Behold,2005 he drinketh up6231 a river,5104 and hasteth2648 not:3808 he trusteth982 that3588 he can draw up1518 Jordan3383 into413 his mouth.6310

24  He taketh3947 it with his eyes:5869 his nose639 pierceth5344 through snares.4170

1 Respondens autem Dominus Job de turbine, dixit:

2 [Accinge sicut vir lumbos tuos:
interrogabo te, et indica mihi.

3 Numquid irritum facies judicium meum,
et condemnabis me, ut tu justificeris?

4 Et si habes brachium sicut Deus?
et si voce simili tonas?

5 Circumda tibi decorem, et in sublime erigere,
et esto gloriosus, et speciosis induere vestibus.

6 Disperge superbos in furore tuo,
et respiciens omnem arrogantem humilia.

7 Respice cunctos superbos, et confunde eos,
et contere impios in loco suo.

8 Absconde eos in pulvere simul,
et facies eorum demerge in foveam.

9 Et ego confitebor
quod salvare te possit dextera tua.

10 Ecce behemoth quem feci tecum,
fœnum quasi bos comedet.

11 Fortitudo ejus in lumbis ejus,
et virtus illius in umbilico ventris ejus.

12 Stringit caudam suam quasi cedrum;
nervi testiculorum ejus perplexi sunt.

13 Ossa ejus velut fistulæ æris;
cartilago illius quasi laminæ ferreæ.

14 Ipse est principium viarum Dei:
qui fecit eum applicabit gladium ejus.

15 Huic montes herbas ferunt:
omnes bestiæ agri ludent ibi.

16 Sub umbra dormit in secreto calami,
et in locis humentibus.

17 Protegunt umbræ umbram ejus:
circumdabunt eum salices torrentis.

19 In oculis ejus quasi hamo capiet eum,
et in sudibus perforabit nares ejus.

20 An extrahere poteris Leviathan hamo,
et fune ligabis linguam ejus?

21 Numquid pones circulum in naribus ejus,
aut armilla perforabis maxillam ejus?

22 Numquid multiplicabit ad te preces,
aut loquetur tibi mollia?

23 Numquid feriet tecum pactum,
et accipies eum servum sempiternum?

24 Numquid illudes ei quasi avi,
aut ligabis eum ancillis tuis?

25 Concident eum amici?
divident illum negotiatores?

26 Numquid implebis sagenas pelle ejus,
et gurgustium piscium capite illius?

27 Pone super eum manum tuam:
memento belli, nec ultra addas loqui.

28 Ecce spes ejus frustrabitur eum,
et videntibus cunctis præcipitabitur.]
