1  At that¹⁹³¹ time⁶²⁵⁶ Merodach-baladan,⁴⁷⁵⁷ the son¹¹²¹ of Baladan,¹⁰⁸¹ king⁴⁴²⁸ of Babylon,⁸⁹⁴ sent⁷⁹⁷¹ letters⁵⁶¹² and a present⁴⁵⁰³ to⁴¹³ Hezekiah:²³⁹⁶ for he had heard⁸⁰⁸⁵ that³⁵⁸⁸ he had been sick,²⁴⁷⁰ and was recovered.²³⁸⁸

2  And Hezekiah²³⁹⁶ was glad⁸⁰⁵⁵ of⁵⁹²¹ them, and showed⁷²⁰⁰ them ⁸⁵³ the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of his precious things,^{5238 853} the silver,³⁷⁰¹ and the gold,²⁰⁹¹ and the spices,¹³¹⁴ and the precious²⁸⁹⁶ ointment,⁸⁰⁸¹ and all³⁶⁰⁵ the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of his armor,³⁶²⁷ and all³⁶⁰⁵ that⁸³⁴ was found⁴⁶⁷² in his treasures:²¹⁴ there was¹⁹⁶¹ nothing^{3808 1697} in his house,¹⁰⁰⁴ nor in all³⁶⁰⁵ his dominion,⁴⁴⁷⁵ that⁸³⁴ Hezekiah²³⁹⁶ showed⁷²⁰⁰ them not.³⁸⁰⁸

3  Then came⁹³⁵ Isaiah³⁴⁷⁰ the prophet⁵⁰³⁰ unto⁴¹³ king⁴⁴²⁸ Hezekiah,²³⁹⁶ and said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ him, What⁴¹⁰⁰ said⁵⁵⁹ these⁴²⁸ men?³⁷⁶ and from whence^{4480 370} came⁹³⁵ they unto⁴¹³ thee? And Hezekiah²³⁹⁶ said,⁵⁵⁹ They are come⁹³⁵ from a far⁷³⁵⁰ country^{4480 776} unto⁴¹³ me, even from Babylon.^{4480 894}

4  Then said⁵⁵⁹ he, What⁴¹⁰⁰ have they seen⁷²⁰⁰ in thine house?¹⁰⁰⁴ And Hezekiah²³⁹⁶ answered,^{559 853} All³⁶⁰⁵ that⁸³⁴ is in mine house¹⁰⁰⁴ have they seen:⁷²⁰⁰ there is¹⁹⁶¹ nothing^{3808 1697} among my treasures²¹⁴ that⁸³⁴ I have not³⁸⁰⁸ showed⁷²⁰⁰ them.

5  Then said⁵⁵⁹ Isaiah³⁴⁷⁰ to⁴¹³ Hezekiah,²³⁹⁶ Hear⁸⁰⁸⁵ the word¹⁶⁹⁷ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ of hosts:⁶⁶³⁵

6  Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ the days³¹¹⁷ come,⁹³⁵ that all³⁶⁰⁵ that⁸³⁴ is in thine house,¹⁰⁰⁴ and that which⁸³⁴ thy fathers¹ have laid up in store⁶⁸⁶ until⁵⁷⁰⁴ this²⁰⁸⁸ day,³¹¹⁷ shall be carried⁵³⁷⁵ to Babylon:⁸⁹⁴ nothing^{3808 1697} shall be left,³⁴⁹⁸ saith⁵⁵⁹ the LORD.³⁰⁶⁸

7  And of thy sons^{4480 1121} that⁸³⁴ shall issue³³¹⁸ from⁴⁴⁸⁰ thee, which⁸³⁴ thou shalt beget,³²⁰⁵ shall they take away;³⁹⁴⁷ and they shall be¹⁹⁶¹ eunuchs⁵⁶³¹ in the palace¹⁹⁶⁴ of the king⁴⁴²⁸ of Babylon.⁸⁹⁴

8  Then said⁵⁵⁹ Hezekiah²³⁹⁶ to⁴¹³ Isaiah,³⁴⁷⁰ Good²⁸⁹⁶ is the word¹⁶⁹⁷ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ which⁸³⁴ thou hast spoken.¹⁶⁹⁶ He said⁵⁵⁹ moreover, For³⁵⁸⁸ there shall be¹⁹⁶¹ peace⁷⁹⁶⁵ and truth⁵⁷¹ in my days.³¹¹⁷

1 ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ ἀπέστειλεν Μαρωδαχ υἱὸς τοῦ Λααδαν ὁ βασιλεὺς τῆς Βαβυλωνίας ἐπιστολὰς καὶ πρέσβεις καὶ δῶρα Εζεκια ἤκουσεν γὰρ ὅτι ἐμαλακίσθη ἕως θανάτου καὶ ἀνέστη

2 καὶ ἐχάρη ἐπ᾽ αὐτοῖς Εζεκιας χαρὰν μεγάλην καὶ ἔδειξεν αὐτοῖς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ νεχωθα καὶ τῆς στακτῆς καὶ τῶν θυμιαμάτων καὶ τοῦ μύρου καὶ τοῦ ἀργυρίου καὶ τοῦ χρυσίου καὶ πάντας τοὺς οἴκους τῶν σκευῶν τῆς γάζης καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἦν ἐν τοῖς θησαυροῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἦν οὐθέν ὃ οὐκ ἔδειξεν Εζεκιας ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ

3 καὶ ἦλθεν Ησαιας ὁ προφήτης πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Εζεκιαν καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν τί λέγουσιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὗτοι καὶ πόθεν ἥκασιν πρὸς σέ καὶ εἶπεν Εζεκιας ἐκ γῆς πόρρωθεν ἥκασιν πρός με ἐκ Βαβυλῶνος

4 καὶ εἶπεν Ησαιας τί εἴδοσαν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου καὶ εἶπεν Εζεκιας πάντα τὰ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ μου εἴδοσαν καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ μου ὃ οὐκ εἴδοσαν ἀλλὰ καὶ τὰ ἐν τοῖς θησαυροῖς μου

5 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ησαιας ἄκουσον τὸν λόγον κυρίου σαβαωθ

6 ἰδοὺ ἡμέραι ἔρχονται λέγει κύριος καὶ λήμψονται πάντα τὰ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου καὶ ὅσα συνήγαγον οἱ πατέρες σου ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης εἰς Βαβυλῶνα ἥξει καὶ οὐδὲν οὐ μὴ καταλίπωσιν εἶπεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς

7 ὅτι καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν τέκνων σου ὧν ἐγέννησας λήμψονται καὶ ποιήσουσιν σπάδοντας ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ βασιλέως τῶν Βαβυλωνίων

8 καὶ εἶπεν Εζεκιας πρὸς Ησαιαν ἀγαθὸς ὁ λόγος κυρίου ὃν ἐλάλησεν γενέσθω δὴ εἰρήνη καὶ δικαιοσύνη ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις μου

‎1 ‏בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֡וא שָׁלַ֡ח מְרֹדַ֣ךְ בַּ֠לְאֲדָן בֶּֽן־בַּלְאֲדָ֧ן מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶ֛ל סְפָרִ֥ים וּמִנְחָ֖ה אֶל־חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ וַיִּשְׁמַ֕ע כִּ֥י חָלָ֖ה וַֽיֶּחֱזָֽק׃

‎2 ‏וַיִּשְׂמַ֣ח עֲלֵיהֶם֮ חִזְקִיָּהוּ֒ וַיַּרְאֵ֣ם אֶת־בֵּ֣ית נכתה נְכֹת֡וֹ אֶת־הַכֶּסֶף֩ וְאֶת־הַזָּהָ֨ב וְאֶת־הַבְּשָׂמִ֜ים וְאֵ֣ת׀ הַשֶּׁ֣מֶן הַטּ֗וֹב וְאֵת֙ כָּל־בֵּ֣ית כֵּלָ֔יו וְאֵ֛ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִמְצָ֖א בְּאֹֽצְרֹתָ֑יו לֹֽא־הָיָ֣ה דָבָ֗ר אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹֽא־הֶרְאָ֧ם חִזְקִיָּ֛הוּ בְּבֵית֖וֹ וּבְכָל־מֶמְשַׁלְתּֽוֹ׃

‎3 ‏וַיָּבֹא֙ יְשַׁעְיָ֣הוּ הַנָּבִ֔יא אֶל־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֜יו מָ֥ה אָמְר֣וּ׀ הָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים הָאֵ֗לֶּה וּמֵאַ֙יִן֙ יָבֹ֣אוּ אֵלֶ֔יךָ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ חִזְקִיָּ֔הוּ מֵאֶ֧רֶץ רְחוֹקָ֛ה בָּ֥אוּ אֵלַ֖י מִבָּבֶֽל׃

‎4 ‏וַיֹּ֕אמֶר מָ֥ה רָא֖וּ בְּבֵיתֶ֑ךָ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר חִזְקִיָּ֗הוּ אֵ֣ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֤ר בְּבֵיתִי֙ רָא֔וּ לֹֽא־הָיָ֥ה דָבָ֛ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־הִרְאִיתִ֖ים בְּאוֹצְרֹתָֽי׃

‎5 ‏וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְשַׁעְיָ֖הוּ אֶל־חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ שְׁמַ֖ע דְּבַר־יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃

‎6 ‏הִנֵּה֮ יָמִ֣ים בָּאִים֒ וְנִשָּׂ֣א׀ כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּבֵיתֶ֗ךָ וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר אָצְר֧וּ אֲבֹתֶ֛יךָ עַד־הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה בָּבֶ֑ל לֹֽא־יִוָּתֵ֥ר דָּבָ֖ר אָמַ֥ר יְהוָֽה׃

‎7 ‏וּמִבָּנֶ֜יךָ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יֵצְא֧וּ מִמְּךָ֛ אֲשֶׁ֥ר תּוֹלִ֖יד יִקָּ֑חוּ וְהָיוּ֙ סָרִיסִ֔ים בְּהֵיכַ֖ל מֶ֥לֶךְ בָּבֶֽל׃

‎8 ‏וַיֹּ֤אמֶר חִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙ אֶֽל־יְשַׁעְיָ֔הוּ ט֥וֹב דְּבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבַּ֑רְתָּ וַיֹּ֕אמֶר כִּ֥י יִהְיֶ֛ה שָׁל֥וֹם וֶאֱמֶ֖ת בְּיָמָֽי׃ פ

Vul

1 In tempore illo misit Merodach Baladan, filius Baladan, rex Babylonis, libros et munera ad Ezechiam: audierat enim quod ægrotasset et convaluisset.

2 Lætatus est autem super eis Ezechias, et ostendit eis cellam aromatum, et argenti, et auri, et odoramentorum, et unguenti optimi, et omnes apothecas supellectilis suæ, et universa quæ inventa sunt in thesauris ejus. Non fuit verbum quod non ostenderet eis Ezechias in domo sua, et in omni potestate sua.

3 Introivit autem Isaias propheta ad Ezechiam regem, et dixit ei: Quid dixerunt viri isti, et unde venerunt ad te? Et dixit Ezechias: De terra longinqua venerunt ad me, de Babylone.

4 Et dixit: Quid viderunt in domo tua? Et dixit Ezechias: Omnia quæ in domo mea sunt viderunt; non fuit res quam non ostenderim eis in thesauris meis.

5 Et dixit Isaias ad Ezechiam: Audi verbum Domini exercituum.

6 Ecce dies venient, et auferentur omnia quæ in domo tua sunt, et quæ thesaurizaverunt patres tui usque ad diem hanc, in Babylonem; non relinquetur quidquam, dicit Dominus.

7 Et de filiis tuis, qui exibunt de te, quos genueris, tollent, et erunt eunuchi in palatio regis Babylonis.

8 Et dixit Ezechias ad Isaiam: Bonum verbum Domini, quod locutus est. Et dixit: Fiat tantum pax et veritas in diebus meis!
