1  When3588 a man376 hath taken3947 a wife,802 and married1166 her, and it come to pass1961 that518 she find4672 no3808 favor2580 in his eyes,5869 because3588 he hath found4672 some1697 uncleanness6172 in her: then let him write3789 her a bill5612 of divorcement,3748 and give5414 it in her hand,3027 and send7971 her out of his house.4480 1004

2  And when she is departed3318 out of his house,4480 1004 she may go1980 and be1961 another312 man's376 wife.

3  And if the latter314 husband376 hate8130 her, and write3789 her a bill5612 of divorcement,3748 and giveth5414 it in her hand,3027 and sendeth7971 her out of his house;4480 1004 or176 if3588 the latter314 husband376 die,4191 which834 took3947 her to be his wife;802

4  Her former7223 husband,1167 which834 sent her away,7971 may3201 not3808 take3947 her again7725 to be1961 his wife,802 after that310 834 she is defiled;2930 for3588 that1931 is abomination8441 before6440 the LORD:3068 and thou shalt not3808 cause 853 the land776 to sin,2398 which834 the LORD3068 thy God430 giveth5414 thee for an inheritance.5159

5  When3588 a man376 hath taken3947 a new2319 wife,802 he shall not3808 go out3318 to war,6635 neither3808 shall he be charged5674 with5921 any3605 business:1697 but he shall be1961 free5355 at home1004 one259 year,8141 and shall cheer up8055 853 his wife802 which834 he hath taken.3947

6  No3808 man shall take2254 the nether7347 or the upper7393 millstone7347 to pledge:2254 for3588 he1931 taketh2254 a man's life5315 to pledge.2254

7  If3588 a man376 be found4672 stealing1589 any5315 of his brethren4480 251 of the children4480 1121 of Israel,3478 and maketh merchandise6014 of him, or selleth4376 him; then that1931 thief1590 shall die;4191 and thou shalt put evil away1197 7451 from among4480 7130 you.

8  Take heed8104 in the plague5061 of leprosy,6883 that thou observe8104 diligently,3966 and do6213 according to all3605 that834 the priests3548 the Levites3881 shall teach3384 you: as834 I commanded6680 them, so ye shall observe8104 to do.6213

11  Thou shalt stand5975 abroad,2351 and the man376 to whom834 thou859 dost lend5383 shall bring out3318 853 the pledge5667 abroad2351 unto413 thee.

12  And if518 the man376 be poor,6041 thou shalt not3808 sleep7901 with his pledge:5667

13  In any case thou shalt deliver7725 7725 him 853 the pledge5667 again when the sun8121 goeth down,935 that he may sleep7901 in his own raiment,8008 and bless1288 thee: and it shall be1961 righteousness6666 unto thee before6440 the LORD3068 thy God.430

14  Thou shalt not3808 oppress6231 a hired servant7916 that is poor6041 and needy,34 whether he be of thy brethren,4480 251 or176 of thy strangers4480 1616 that834 are in thy land776 within thy gates:8179

15  At his day3117 thou shalt give5414 him his hire,7939 neither3808 shall the sun8121 go down935 upon5921 it; for3588 he1931 is poor,6041 and setteth5375 853 his heart5315 upon413 it: lest3808 he cry7121 against5921 thee unto413 the LORD,3068 and it be1961 sin2399 unto thee.

16  The fathers1 shall not3808 be put to death4191 for5921 the children,1121 neither3808 shall the children1121 be put to death4191 for5921 the fathers:1 every man376 shall be put to death4191 for his own sin.2399

17  Thou shalt not3808 pervert5186 the judgment4941 of the stranger,1616 nor of the fatherless;3490 nor3808 take2254 a widow's490 raiment899 to pledge:2254

18  But thou shalt remember2142 that3588 thou wast1961 a bondman5650 in Egypt,4714 and the LORD3068 thy God430 redeemed6299 thee thence:4480 8033 therefore5921 3651 I595 command6680 thee to do6213 853 this2088 thing.1697

19  When3588 thou cuttest down7114 thine harvest7105 in thy field,7704 and hast forgot7911 a sheaf6016 in the field,7704 thou shalt not3808 go again7725 to fetch3947 it: it shall be1961 for the stranger,1616 for the fatherless,3490 and for the widow:490 that4616 the LORD3068 thy God430 may bless1288 thee in all3605 the work4639 of thine hands.3027

20  When3588 thou beatest2251 thine olive tree,2132 thou shalt not3808 go over the boughs6286 again:310 it shall be1961 for the stranger,1616 for the fatherless,3490 and for the widow.490

1 ἐὰν δέ τις λάβῃ γυναῖκα καὶ συνοικήσῃ αὐτῇ καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν μὴ εὕρῃ χάριν ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ ὅτι εὗρεν ἐν αὐτῇ ἄσχημον πρᾶγμα καὶ γράψει αὐτῇ βιβλίον ἀποστασίου καὶ δώσει εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῆς καὶ ἐξαποστελεῖ αὐτὴν ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ

2 καὶ ἀπελθοῦσα γένηται ἀνδρὶ ἑτέρῳ

3 καὶ μισήσῃ αὐτὴν ὁ ἀνὴρ ὁ ἔσχατος καὶ γράψει αὐτῇ βιβλίον ἀποστασίου καὶ δώσει εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῆς καὶ ἐξαποστελεῖ αὐτὴν ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας αὐτοῦ ἢ ἀποθάνῃ ὁ ἀνὴρ ὁ ἔσχατος ὃς ἔλαβεν αὐτὴν ἑαυτῷ γυναῖκα

4 οὐ δυνήσεται ὁ ἀνὴρ ὁ πρότερος ὁ ἐξαποστείλας αὐτὴν ἐπαναστρέψας λαβεῖν αὐτὴν ἑαυτῷ γυναῖκα μετὰ τὸ μιανθῆναι αὐτήν ὅτι βδέλυγμά ἐστιν ἐναντίον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου καὶ οὐ μιανεῖτε τὴν γῆν ἣν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν δίδωσιν ὑμῖν ἐν κλήρῳ

5 ἐὰν δέ τις λάβῃ γυναῖκα προσφάτως οὐκ ἐξελεύσεται εἰς τὸν πόλεμον καὶ οὐκ ἐπιβληθήσεται αὐτῷ οὐδὲν πρᾶγμα ἀθῷος ἔσται ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ αὐτοῦ ἐνιαυτὸν ἕνα εὐφρανεῖ τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ ἣν ἔλαβεν

6 οὐκ ἐνεχυράσεις μύλον οὐδὲ ἐπιμύλιον ὅτι ψυχὴν οὗτος ἐνεχυράζει

7 ἐὰν δὲ ἁλῷ ἄνθρωπος κλέπτων ψυχὴν τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ καταδυναστεύσας αὐτὸν ἀποδῶται ἀποθανεῖται ὁ κλέπτης ἐκεῖνος καὶ ἐξαρεῖς τὸν πονηρὸν ἐξ ὑμῶν αὐτῶν

8 πρόσεχε σεαυτῷ ἐν τῇ ἁφῇ τῆς λέπρας φυλάξῃ σφόδρα ποιεῖν κατὰ πάντα τὸν νόμον ὃν ἐὰν ἀναγγείλωσιν ὑμῖν οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ Λευῖται ὃν τρόπον ἐνετειλάμην ὑμῖν φυλάξασθε ποιεῖν

9 μνήσθητι ὅσα ἐποίησεν κύριος ὁ θεός σου τῇ Μαριαμ ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ ἐκπορευομένων ὑμῶν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου

10 ἐὰν ὀφείλημα ᾖ ἐν τῷ πλησίον σου ὀφείλημα ὁτιοῦν οὐκ εἰσελεύσῃ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ ἐνεχυράσαι τὸ ἐνέχυρον

11 ἔξω στήσῃ καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος οὗ τὸ δάνειόν σού ἐστιν ἐν αὐτῷ ἐξοίσει σοι τὸ ἐνέχυρον ἔξω

12 ἐὰν δὲ ὁ ἄνθρωπος πένηται οὐ κοιμηθήσῃ ἐν τῷ ἐνεχύρῳ αὐτοῦ

13 ἀποδόσει ἀποδώσεις τὸ ἐνέχυρον αὐτοῦ περὶ δυσμὰς ἡλίου καὶ κοιμηθήσεται ἐν τῷ ἱματίῳ αὐτοῦ καὶ εὐλογήσει σε καὶ ἔσται σοι ἐλεημοσύνη ἐναντίον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου

14 οὐκ ἀπαδικήσεις μισθὸν πένητος καὶ ἐνδεοῦς ἐκ τῶν ἀδελφῶν σου ἢ ἐκ τῶν προσηλύτων τῶν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσίν σου

15 αὐθημερὸν ἀποδώσεις τὸν μισθὸν αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἐπιδύσεται ὁ ἥλιος ἐπ᾽ αὐτῷ ὅτι πένης ἐστὶν καὶ ἐν αὐτῷ ἔχει τὴν ἐλπίδα καὶ οὐ καταβοήσεται κατὰ σοῦ πρὸς κύριον καὶ ἔσται ἐν σοὶ ἁμαρτία

16 οὐκ ἀποθανοῦνται πατέρες ὑπὲρ τέκνων καὶ υἱοὶ οὐκ ἀποθανοῦνται ὑπὲρ πατέρων ἕκαστος τῇ ἑαυτοῦ ἁμαρτίᾳ ἀποθανεῖται

17 οὐκ ἐκκλινεῖς κρίσιν προσηλύτου καὶ ὀρφανοῦ καὶ χήρας καὶ οὐκ ἐνεχυράσεις ἱμάτιον χήρας

18 καὶ μνησθήσῃ ὅτι οἰκέτης ἦσθα ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ ἐλυτρώσατό σε κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἐκεῖθεν διὰ τοῦτο ἐγώ σοι ἐντέλλομαι ποιεῖν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο

19 ἐὰν δὲ ἀμήσῃς ἀμητὸν ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ σου καὶ ἐπιλάθῃ δράγμα ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ σου οὐκ ἐπαναστραφήσῃ λαβεῖν αὐτό τῷ πτωχῷ καὶ τῷ προσηλύτῳ καὶ τῷ ὀρφανῷ καὶ τῇ χήρᾳ ἔσται ἵνα εὐλογήσῃ σε κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς ἔργοις τῶν χειρῶν σου

20 ἐὰν δὲ ἐλαιαλογήσῃς οὐκ ἐπαναστρέψεις καλαμήσασθαι τὰ ὀπίσω σου τῷ προσηλύτῳ καὶ τῷ ὀρφανῷ καὶ τῇ χήρᾳ ἔσται καὶ μνησθήσῃ ὅτι οἰκέτης ἦσθα ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ διὰ τοῦτο ἐγώ σοι ἐντέλλομαι ποιεῖν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο

21 ἐὰν δὲ τρυγήσῃς τὸν ἀμπελῶνά σου οὐκ ἐπανατρυγήσεις αὐτὸν τὰ ὀπίσω σου τῷ προσηλύτῳ καὶ τῷ ὀρφανῷ καὶ τῇ χήρᾳ ἔσται

22 καὶ μνησθήσῃ ὅτι οἰκέτης ἦσθα ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ διὰ τοῦτο ἐγώ σοι ἐντέλλομαι ποιεῖν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο

‎1 ‏כִּֽי־יִקַּ֥ח אִ֛ישׁ אִשָּׁ֖ה וּבְעָלָ֑הּ וְהָיָ֞ה אִם־לֹ֧א תִמְצָא־חֵ֣ן בְּעֵינָ֗יו כִּי־מָ֤צָא בָהּ֙ עֶרְוַ֣ת דָּבָ֔ר וְכָ֨תַב לָ֜הּ סֵ֤פֶר כְּרִיתֻת֙ וְנָתַ֣ן בְּיָדָ֔הּ וְשִׁלְּחָ֖הּ מִבֵּיתֽוֹ׃

‎2 ‏וְיָצְאָ֖ה מִבֵּית֑וֹ וְהָלְכָ֖ה וְהָיְתָ֥ה לְאִישׁ־אַחֵֽר׃

‎3 ‏וּשְׂנֵאָהּ֮ הָאִ֣ישׁ הָאַחֲרוֹן֒ וְכָ֨תַב לָ֜הּ סֵ֤פֶר כְּרִיתֻת֙ וְנָתַ֣ן בְּיָדָ֔הּ וְשִׁלְּחָ֖הּ מִבֵּית֑וֹ א֣וֹ כִ֤י יָמוּת֙ הָאִ֣ישׁ הָאַחֲר֔וֹן אֲשֶׁר־לְקָחָ֥הּ ל֖וֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

‎4 ‏לֹא־יוּכַ֣ל בַּעְלָ֣הּ הָרִאשׁ֣וֹן אֲשֶֽׁר־שִׁ֠לְּחָהּ לָשׁ֨וּב לְקַחְתָּ֜הּ לִהְי֧וֹת ל֣וֹ לְאִשָּׁ֗ה אַחֲרֵי֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֻטַּמָּ֔אָה כִּֽי־תוֹעֵבָ֥ה הִ֖וא לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְלֹ֤א תַחֲטִיא֙ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁר֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ נֹתֵ֥ן לְךָ֖ נַחֲלָֽה׃ ס

‎7 ‏כִּי־יִמָּצֵ֣א אִ֗ישׁ גֹּנֵ֨ב נֶ֤פֶשׁ מֵאֶחָיו֙ מִבְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְהִתְעַמֶּר־בּ֖וֹ וּמְכָר֑וֹ וּמֵת֙ הַגַּנָּ֣ב הַה֔וּא וּבִֽעַרְתָּ֥ הָרָ֖ע מִקִּרְבֶּֽךָ׃

‎8 ‏הִשָּׁ֧מֶר בְּנֶֽגַע־הַצָּרַ֛עַת לִשְׁמֹ֥ר מְאֹ֖ד וְלַעֲשׂ֑וֹת כְּכֹל֩ אֲשֶׁר־יוֹר֨וּ אֶתְכֶ֜ם הַכֹּהֲנִ֧ים הַלְוִיִּ֛ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוִּיתִ֖ם תִּשְׁמְר֥וּ לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ ס

‎9 ‏זָכ֕וֹר אֵ֧ת אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֛ה יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ לְמִרְיָ֑ם בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ בְּצֵאתְכֶ֥ם מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ ס

‎10 ‏כִּֽי־תַשֶּׁ֥ה בְרֵֽעֲךָ1 מַשַּׁ֣את מְא֑וּמָה לֹא־תָבֹ֥א אֶל־בֵּית֖וֹ לַעֲבֹ֥ט עֲבֹטֽוֹ׃

‎11 ‏בַּח֖וּץ תַּעֲמֹ֑ד וְהָאִ֗ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֤ר אַתָּה֙ נֹשֶׁ֣ה ב֔וֹ יוֹצִ֥יא אֵלֶ֛יךָ אֶֽת־הַעֲב֖וֹט הַחֽוּצָה׃

‎12 ‏וְאִם־אִ֥ישׁ עָנִ֖י ה֑וּא לֹ֥א תִשְׁכַּ֖ב בַּעֲבֹטֽוֹ׃

‎13 ‏הָשֵׁב֩ תָּשִׁ֨יב ל֤וֹ אֶֽת־הַעֲבוֹט֙ כְּבֹ֣א הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ וְשָׁכַ֥ב בְּשַׂלְמָת֖וֹ וּבֵֽרֲכֶ֑ךָּ וּלְךָ֙ תִּהְיֶ֣ה צְדָקָ֔ה לִפְנֵ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃ ס

‎14 ‏לֹא־תַעֲשֹׁ֥ק שָׂכִ֖יר עָנִ֣י וְאֶבְי֑וֹן מֵאַחֶ֕יךָ א֧וֹ מִגֵּרְךָ֛ אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּאַרְצְךָ֖ בִּשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ׃

‎15 ‏בְּיוֹמוֹ֩ תִתֵּ֨ן שְׂכָר֜וֹ וְֽלֹא־תָב֧וֹא עָלָ֣יו הַשֶּׁ֗מֶשׁ כִּ֤י עָנִי֙ ה֔וּא וְאֵלָ֕יו ה֥וּא נֹשֵׂ֖א אֶת־נַפְשׁ֑וֹ וְלֹֽא־יִקְרָ֤א עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ אֶל־יְהוָ֔ה וְהָיָ֥ה בְךָ֖ חֵֽטְא׃ ס

‎16 ‏לֹֽא־יוּמְת֤וּ אָבוֹת֙ עַל־בָּנִ֔ים וּבָנִ֖ים לֹא־יוּמְת֣וּ עַל־אָב֑וֹת אִ֥ישׁ בְּחֶטְא֖וֹ יוּמָֽתוּ׃ ס

‎17 ‏לֹ֣א תַטֶּ֔ה מִשְׁפַּ֖ט גֵּ֣ר יָת֑וֹם וְלֹ֣א תַחֲבֹ֔ל בֶּ֖גֶד אַלְמָנָֽה׃

‎18 ‏וְזָכַרְתָּ֗ כִּ֣י עֶ֤בֶד הָיִ֙יתָ֙ בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם וַֽיִּפְדְּךָ֛ יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ מִשָּׁ֑ם עַל־כֵּ֞ן אָנֹכִ֤י מְצַוְּךָ֙ לַעֲשׂ֔וֹת אֶת־הַדָּבָ֖ר הַזֶּֽה׃ ס

‎19 ‏כִּ֣י תִקְצֹר֩ קְצִֽירְךָ֨ בְשָׂדֶ֜ךָ וְשָֽׁכַחְתָּ֧ עֹ֣מֶר בַּשָּׂדֶ֗ה לֹ֤א תָשׁוּב֙ לְקַחְתּ֔וֹ לַגֵּ֛ר לַיָּת֥וֹם וְלָאַלְמָנָ֖ה יִהְיֶ֑ה לְמַ֤עַן יְבָרֶכְךָ֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ בְּכֹ֖ל מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה יָדֶֽיךָ׃

‎20 ‏כִּ֤י תַחְבֹּט֙ זֵֽיתְךָ֔ לֹ֥א תְפָאֵ֖ר אַחֲרֶ֑יךָ לַגֵּ֛ר לַיָּת֥וֹם וְלָאַלְמָנָ֖ה יִהְיֶֽה׃ ס

‎21 ‏כִּ֤י תִבְצֹר֙ כַּרְמְךָ֔ לֹ֥א תְעוֹלֵ֖ל אַחֲרֶ֑יךָ לַגֵּ֛ר לַיָּת֥וֹם וְלָאַלְמָנָ֖ה יִהְיֶֽה׃

‎22 ‏וְזָ֣כַרְתָּ֔ כִּי־עֶ֥בֶד הָיִ֖יתָ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם עַל־כֵּ֞ן אָנֹכִ֤י מְצַוְּךָ֙ לַעֲשׂ֔וֹת אֶת־הַדָּבָ֖ר הַזֶּֽה׃ ס

1 Si acceperit homo uxorem, et habuerit eam, et non invenerit gratiam ante oculos ejus propter aliquam fœditatem: scribet libellum repudii, et dabit in manu illius, et dimittet eam de domo sua.

2 Cumque egressa alterum maritum duxerit,

3 et ille quoque oderit eam, dederitque ei libellum repudii, et dimiserit de domo sua, vel certe mortuus fuerit:

4 non poterit prior maritus recipere eam in uxorem: quia polluta est, et abominabilis facta est coram Domino: ne peccare facias terram tuam, quam Dominus Deus tuus tradiderit tibi possidendam.

5 Cum acceperit homo nuper uxorem, non procedet ad bellum, nec ei quippiam necessitatis injungetur publicæ, sed vacabit absque culpa domi suæ, ut uno anno lætetur cum uxore sua.

6 Non accipies loco pignoris inferiorem, et superiorem molam: quia animam suam opposuit tibi.

7 Si deprehensus fuerit homo sollicitans fratrem suum de filiis Israël, et vendito eo acceperit pretium, interficietur, et auferes malum de medio tui.

8 Observa diligenter ne incurras plagam lepræ, sed facies quæcumque docuerint te sacerdotes Levitici generis, juxta id quod præcepi eis, et imple sollicite.

9 Mementote quæ fecerit Dominus Deus vester Mariæ in via cum egrederemini de Ægypto.

10 Cum repetes a proximo tuo rem aliquam, quam debet tibi, non ingredieris domum ejus ut pignus auferas:

11 sed stabis foris, et ille tibi proferet quod habuerit.

12 Sin autem pauper est, non pernoctabit apud te pignus,

13 sed statim reddes ei ante solis occasum: ut dormiens in vestimento suo, benedicat tibi, et habeas justitiam coram Domino Deo tuo.

14 Non negabis mercedem indigentis, et pauperis fratris tui, sive advenæ, qui tecum moratur in terra, et intra portas tuas est:

15 sed eadem die reddes ei pretium laboris sui ante solis occasum, quia pauper est, et ex eo sustentat animam suam: ne clamet contra te ad Dominum, et reputetur tibi in peccatum.

16 Non occidentur patres pro filiis, neque filii pro patribus, sed unusquisque pro peccato suo morietur.

17 Non pervertes judicium advenæ et pupilli, nec auferes pignoris loco viduæ vestimentum.

18 Memento quod servieris in Ægypto, et eruerit te Dominus Deus tuus inde. Idcirco præcipio tibi ut facias hanc rem.

19 Quando messueris segetem in agro tuo, et oblitus manipulum reliqueris, non reverteris, ut tollas illum: sed advenam, et pupillum, et viduam auferre patieris, ut benedicat tibi Dominus Deus tuus in omni opere manuum tuarum.

20 Si fruges collegeris olivarum, quidquid remanserit in arboribus, non reverteris ut colligas: sed relinques advenæ, pupillo, ac viduæ.

21 Si vindemiaveris vineam tuam, non colliges remanentes racemos: sed cedent in usus advenæ, pupilli, ac viduæ.

22 Memento quod et tu servieris in Ægypto, et idcirco præcipio tibi ut facias hanc rem.
